COMSIP members urged to work hard and make the most of project support

National Local Government Finance Committee (NLGFC) Chairperson, Commissioner Richard Chapweteka, has urged members of COMSIP groups to work hard and make good use of the support they are receiving through the Social Support for Resilient Livelihoods Project (SSRLP).
Commissioner Chapweteka made the remarks during a visit to the Kachere COMSIP Cluster in T/A Likoswe, Chiradzulu, where he interacted with members and learnt about the businesses and livelihood activities they are undertaking.
He noted that beneficiaries of the Social Cash Transfer Programme who join COMSIP groups have an opportunity to access additional livelihood support and build their capacity to improve their economic wellbeing.
“Since you made the decision to join COMSIP, you should make good use of the support you are receiving,” he encouraged the members.
Commissioner Chapweteka expressed satisfaction with the progress made by members, particularly their efforts to establish and grow businesses after receiving livelihood support and business skills through the programme.
The livelihood support component is implemented by COMSIP Cooperative Union Limited under the SSRLP, with the NLGFC serving as the implementing unit of the project.
He further encouraged members to use the financial support responsibly, seek guidance from COMSIP Case Workers and adhere to the rules governing their savings and loan groups.
“Use the money well, listen to the advice from your Case Workers and follow the rules of your savings groups. These are important steps towards ensuring that the support you receive translates into sustainable improvements in your livelihoods,” he said.
The visit provided an opportunity for the Chairperson to appreciate how COMSIP members are using project support to strengthen their businesses, savings and livelihoods, while encouraging them to remain committed to their economic empowerment journey.
